2 Pole 63A Contactor for HVAC, Lighting and Control Panels
The Shopcorp BMC7-63U is a compact 2 pole normally open modular contactor designed for compatible HVAC, lighting, automation, distribution, and electrical control applications that use a 120V AC/DC control signal.
Its two main poles switch together when the coil is energized, providing a straightforward solution for compatible two-line control circuits.
The contactor is rated 63A AC-1 for resistive or slightly inductive loads and 25A AC-3 for properly matched motor-control applications.
120V AC/DC Control Coil
The contactor uses A1 and A2 coil terminals and operates from a 120V AC or DC control source.
This dual AC/DC coil capability allows the same contactor to be integrated into compatible control systems that provide either type of 120V control signal.
When energized, the coil closes both normally open main contacts simultaneously.
HVAC and Lighting Applications
This contactor can be used in properly selected systems such as:
- HVAC control panels
- Lighting control circuits
- Building automation
- Distribution boxes
- Commercial control panels
- Household automation
- Fans and pumps within the published AC-3 rating
- Resistive heating loads within the published AC-1 rating
- General electrical switching systems
For motor and HVAC applications, selection should be based on the 25A AC-3 rating, not the 63A AC-1 rating.
AC-1 vs. AC-3 Load Ratings
The BMC7-63U carries two different utilization ratings depending on the type of load being switched.
AC-1 – 63A
Intended for resistive or slightly inductive loads where switching conditions are comparatively mild.
AC-3 – 25A
Intended for properly matched motor loads where the contactor must make motor starting current and interrupt normal running current.
Using the correct utilization category is important when sizing the contactor for HVAC, pump, fan, motor, lighting, or heating applications.
Normally Open 2 Pole Configuration
The two main normally open contacts are:
Pole 1: 1–2
Pole 2: 3–4
With the coil de-energized, the contacts remain open.
When the 120V AC/DC coil is energized, both poles close together and remain closed while the control signal is present.
Status Indicator
A front-mounted status indicator provides a quick visual reference of the contactor's operating condition during installation, testing, or system inspection.
DIN Rail Mounting
The BMC7-63U is designed for standard 35 mm DIN rail mounting, making it well suited for modular control panels and distribution enclosures.
Its compact 2-module format helps reduce panel space while maintaining accessible main and coil terminals.
Compact Dimensions
Approximate product dimensions:
- Width: 36 mm / 1.4 in
- Height: 86 mm / 3.4 in
-Depth: 68 mm / 2.7 in
Allow sufficient space for conductors, terminal access, ventilation, and surrounding panel components.
UL Recognized Component
The contactor is a UL Recognized Component under:
UL 60947-1
UL 60947-4-1
UL File: E539285
A UL Recognized Component is intended for incorporation into a larger piece of equipment or system. Final system compliance depends on the completed installation and applicable electrical requirements.
